GAPA - Grandparents as Parents Again

All grandparents are welcome to join GAPA. You do not need to be providing full-time care for your grandchildren.
GAPA was formed by UnitingCare Burnside Hastings Family Support Centre and the Port Macquarie Evening Branch of the Country Women’s Association of NSW.
The support group was formed in response to expressed need in the community from grandparents caring for their grandchildren. |

An Australian Bureau of Statistics survey in 2004 found there were 22,500 families across Australia where grandparents are the sole carers.
A total of 31,000 children live in families headed by grandparents with an estimated 10,000 children living with grandparents in NSW.
Many grandparents provide care for their grandchildren with limited or no financial support. |
